Max Payne

I was a fan of the Max Payne video game back in the day – it was cool and original. But I’m not entirely sold on the movie… I felt like something was missing – maybe it was the plot that bothered me, not cohesive enough, not a well-crafted enough script. But there were definitely some cool action scenes – gunfights, crazy explosions, the classic stuff – and then the signature bullet-time action. I expected more, though – more action, more drive – but thinking about it, the video game was mostly dark, spooky, and slow – not endless action. The movie wasn't exactly faithful to the game, but then again, that's not always possible. It seems tough to make a good movie based on a video game.
